Knowing God as Provider
To know God as Provider often means you will walk through a season of financial struggle. You may suddenly lose your job, experience failed investments, or watch your business begin to crumble. It’s easy to call God our Provider when our barns are full, but it’s in lack that this truth becomes real. God lovingly strips us of the illusion that we have accumulated wealth by our own power and strength. Scripture reminds us that it is God who gives us the power to get wealth.
It is in moments of financial destitution—when we can’t see a way out of the pit—that God the Provider reveals Himself gloriously. You’ll begin to witness financial doors open in ways that unmistakably bear His Hand. Unexpected help will come through people you never anticipated, right when you need it most. Once you’ve been stripped of self-reliance, God begins to restore your finances. He never leaves His children destitute.
He promises that His children will never beg for bread, that we will be lenders and not borrowers, and that He will supply all our needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus. He assures us that our barns will overflow. When your finances are restored, you will have an unshakable trust in God as your Provider because you will remember His faithfulness when you had nothing.
Once you gain this experiential knowledge of Him, financial hardships will no longer cause you to despair. Instead, you will hold fast to His faithfulness. You’ll find yourself ministering to others, testifying of your Jehovah Jireh—the Lord who provides. This is the power of your witness: revealing to others who Jesus is. His nature is to provide for His children, and He always will.
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.”
— Philippians 4:19 (NIV)
